Mother NGO Project

Rajasthan Mahila Kalyan Mandal, (RMKM) has been selected Mother NGO for Ajmer district by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India (GoI) in RCH - II.

Service delivery areas - MNGO Scheme:

-     Maternal and Child Health. - Family Planning Services.
-     Adolescent Reproductive Health. - Prevention and Management of RTI.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Programmes

Everybody is vulnerable to HIV today. Treatment is still not easily accessible to People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

RMKM is working on the HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme since 1991. In Ajmer District, RMKM is the leader that has started AIDS awareness programme. The first awareness exhibition of India on AIDS was conducted by RMKM in Pushkar fair, 1992.

In its quest against HIV/AIDS, RMKM has worked on two major projects. RMKM, as partner NGO, has implemented 2 sub projects underIndia Canada Collaborative HIV/AIDS project. These projects are - Sehat Sabki & Saksham in Ajmer & Jaipur district. The commitment of RMKM is to understand the rural sex-work environment and developing & replicating a HIV/AIDS prevention & care & support programme model.

RMKM is still working on HIV/AIDS awareness with Traditional Sex Workers in Ajmer & Jaipur district by own resources.

It is also worked on a research project with support from MAMTA The guiding objective of the initiative was to develop viable framework on information and strategies for communication on HIV/AIDS for diverse sections of young people. The focus here was on providing them with appropriate information and life skills for the prevention of HIV/AIDS.

General Health

Health & Nutrition RMKM is also working intensively on Health & Nutrition of women and children through awareness camps & training to Anganwari workers & rural women on importance of low cost and highly nutritional diet.

Safe Motherhood : To curb the mortality rate during and after pregnancy and to bring awareness about general Health in women, RMKM is also conducting awareness camps on Safe Motherhood. Women are advised for regular medical check-up during pregnancy as directed by doctor and to deliver their child only by doctor or nurse or a trained midwife.

Immunizations Programme

To eradicate polio from community and to build healthy nation by healthy child, organization supports Govt.. Immunizations Programme and has arranged camps surrounding villages.

Families and Community

SGPP - Sponsor A Grand Parent Programme : Since 1997, through this project (Adopt-A-Granny Earlier), RMKM is serving old, despaired and neglected grannies. This is a project of HelpAge International, U.K.which supports old aged people all over globe. In India, HelpAge International and HelpAge India are running more than 3000 projects. SGPP is one of those project. In this project, very poor and leftout grannies are sponsored by young people in U.K.

Being grannies' care taker, RMKM take care of their daily requirements like food, grains, clothing, cash requirements, medicines & health care, house repair and so on. At present RMKM is supporting 65 vulnerable older people of urban, sub-urban and rural areas of Ajmer district.
